Helping Jess # 1

Today we are talking brushes. Jessica is not a fan of washing her brushes and this drives me insane as whenever I see her foundation brush  I want to cry! She is aware of my disgust of her brush though as I make a point to tell her every time I see it. It is crusty, crusty!!! I honestly would not be surprised if she has never washed it! There is baby shampoo in our bathroom, she knows that I use it for my brushes. I did wash it the other day because I was so grossed out by it!

Anyway since jess is so horrible at washing her brushes or more just brush as she doesn't have many. I purchasing her Real Technique brushes for her birthday. Since I figured that she needs some in her collection and that this will encourage her to wash her brushes also!

I purchased the core collection, the eye starter set and the setting brush. I will take some photos and blog when she gets them! I made the order from I Herb so we also decided to get some liquid chlorophyll as we are interested in it's health benefits. We did do some research into don't worry. However if it's good enough for Megan Gale I'm sure it's good enough for us!

Flashback Friday #5

Can we just talk about how bad my skin looks in this picture! Don't get me wrong I love not wearing make up to improve my skin.  However this picture is crazy that during a time I was very self-conscious about my skin that I wore barely any foundation to a party! That is what I am confused about with this picture!

I remember this night well and when I remember it I assumed I was wearing make up! so this post is to say stay true to who you are and you are beautiful with or without make up. Yes make up does bring confidence comes from within.

Do something that makes you uncomfortable sometimes and reap the rewards later.

There will be a lot more posts focused on my skin soon as I have been off my skin medication for a long enough time now that I feel like I can blog about it.

Pale Girl Tans #1 Garnier Ambre Solaire

So I am a very new to self tanning, I've always chosen to get a tan professionally  done if I have needed one. For Cheerleading Competitions you need to be extremely tan and I never trusted myself to do this. I have always liked the look of tans though and my collection of self tanners has been growing.

So here is my review of the Garnier Ambre Solaire in Light Natural Bronzer. This product is a spray one and applies clear to the skin. I think that a product that claims to be no streaks shouldn't be clear! The colour itself is decent and looks semi natural, although it is more on the orange side than brown. It isn't green based and that is what you want in a tanner because you won't look orange. The smell of the product is nice and not too fake tan like, though it does have a strong smell. It's more on the fruity side which is enjoyable.

I have to horror stories with this tan. First was that I didn't think it was going to work because it went on clear so I decided to do a test on my arm. I did it on my forearm not thinking that I had work the next day! I had a big orange/brown mark just randomly on my arm for all the customers to see. I didn't think it through at all! The other time because it goes on clear I though I had applied it all over my legs. I was wrong and had streaks all over, I think because I am so new to fake tan that I just failed at knowing where I had applied the tan already.

Will I repurchase this tan, most likely not. At least not in the spray version, I really want to try the rub in version as that is the tan my mother is currently loving. I am not all saying I won't try more Garnier self tanners as I love brand.

Spotlight Sunday #9 Certified Organic ROSE HIP OIL

You may know this but I adore the Sukin brand. It's organic and Australian, what more could an Aussie girl want? I have been using the Sukin rosehip oil for months now. It was featured in my chemist warehouse and cotton on haul where I got it on sale!

I have mainly been using the rosehip oil at night time, it says to put about 2 to 3 drops on your face. However I put so much more than that on my face. As you know I am currently on medication for my skin and it dries it out. That is why I have been putting on a heap of the oil nightly. It helps with keep my skin hydrated and I swear by it. I also believe that is helping take away the redness in my skin. I can't be 100% sure about this as once again the medication. Although my friend Maddy said in one of her post how she believes rosehip oil helps with balancing skin tone. (just ignore where she thinks trilogy is better than Sukin :p). So The fact one of my friends believes that it is working for them encourages me to believe that it is the oil that is doing wonders for my skin. If I am feeling extra dry I will put a serum on underneath also but I think just oil would be fine for most skin types.

You can use this with your moisturizer or just the oil by itself. I will use as just an oil at night time and if I use it during the day I will add just a few drops of it to my moisturizer. I will only wear the oil on my face during the day if I am not wearing makeup as it does take a while to sink in which makes it perfect for night time.

Some of the great features are Australian owned, 100% carbon neutral, 100% vegan, no animal testing and preservative  free.

Some people don't like the smell of this but it grows on you. My boyfriend says it smell play dough.

Overall just buy this product! You will not regret it!

Hair Care Routine February 2014

Hey All

I Never wrote about this but in December I dyed my hair! In China actually one Saturday morning while I was there I bad the brave choice to trust someone who could not understand me at all! Five hours later I had an ombre hair. I am pretty happy with how it turned out, though I may change in a couple of months to make it more bold. No regrets though as I love it!

( Here is a selfie from the day I got it done)

Since dying it I have been trying to take better care of my hair. Honestly this can be a struggle as I really am not a fan of brushing my hair. It has gotten pretty long so it does get knotty pretty easily. I have been trying to fix this issue by hair my hair in plaits quite often, which is fine since I love the looks of them. I am hoping I can rock that Katniss look soon!

One of things that I believes is an important part of my hair routine is using coconut oil in my hair. I love just heaping it on the ends of my hair and putting a tiny amount on my roots before I wash my hair. I will do this at least an hour before I shower to let it have an affect on my hair. I will just it in a top or a plait once it is in to keep the oil from going over my clothes. I will do this about once or twice a week.

(Straight from the shower!)

For shampoo and conditioner I still use the Wella Professinals series. Though I have changed to the moisture set since last writing about them. I find these to make my hair feel better than the shine ones ever did. Plus it makes me not feel bad for bleaching my hair! They are only supermarket shampoos but they are still good quality and I would recommend them. I will try higher end ones when I start working full time to see if I find any where I think there is a difference.

Someone things I do that I think help my hair stay healthy. I try to only wash my hair two times a week and I will attempt to extend the time between my washes as much as possible. I do this as I don't want my hair to feel or be dry! If I think my hair is starting to look oily I will use dry shampoo although I rarely need it. As my hair is used to having this amount of washes and because my skin treatment made my hair not get oily. Though as the affecrts of my treatment wear off I may have to begin washing more regularly. I also don't use heat on my hair majority of the time. I honestly will only use heat styling if I am going out at night these days. As I have learnt to enjoy my natural hair. That and my cat broke my GHD a few months ago.

What are your favourite hair care products? I would love to know!

Makeup Wipe Monday #7 Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes

This weeks review is the Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Wipes. Like most natural products this has a strange smell. It isn't too bad and you get used to it. The wipes are thin and flat, they are moist but it dries quickly in the packaging even though there is the plastic lock at the front. The wipes don't remove all the makeup which is annoying considering these are more expensive than other "drug store" brands.

In all honestly I will not repurchase these wipes even though they are a choice for a more natural makeup wipe. There are no parbens, phthalates, or petrochemicals. So if you are looking for a natural makeup wipe give these a try however there are better working wipes than these. I am all for natural products however I want to use products that work the best.

Sample Queen #3 Jurlique Intense Recovery Mask

Hey all

I am attempting to get back into routine of my blog once again, since my life is starting to get a little of routine back into it. Anyway back on topic! This weeks sample that I used was the Jurlique Intense Recovery Mask. I think this was actually featured in one of box opening videos but I can't remember whether it was from Lust Have It or Bellabox.

The product says it was made in Australia which is awesome for us Aussie's. The mask you can really smell that is made from natural products and it smells kind of like herbs. It is a green mask and has a thin consistency. It is smooth and has no lumps or bumps which is a nice change.

The mask cost $100 for a 100ml. Which is a bit steep for be but it could always be a birthday present or gift. The price is a lot but I got a good two uses out of the 15ml that the sample was, there was also a little bit extra in the tube. So there should quite a few uses in the tube which makes it value.

Would I buy this mask again? Right now most likely not but only because I am still just a poor student!
